The 2020 Census is less than three months away. Counting everyone who lives in the United States is a huge undertaking; it is the largest peacetime mobilization in the country. The U.S. Census Bureau needs everyone’s help to ensure a complete and accurate count.

As part of its 2020 Census recruitment campaign, the Pasadena Area Census Office (790 E. Green St., Pasadena) is hosting a job event this Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with the goal of hiring hundreds of temporary census takers, office personnel, and more. In the spring of 2020, the Census Bureau will launch the largest 2020 Census field operation, known as Nonresponse Follow-up, where Census takers will knock on doors to follow up with households who have not responded to the census questionnaire.

Census taker positions are high-paying jobs with flexible hours. It’s the perfect opportunity for students (18 and older), retirees, stay-at-home parents, and everyone looking to earn extra income. Specifically, in the Los Angeles area, the pay rate is $25-27 an hour for non-supervisory and supervisory positions, respectively. The event will feature information on available jobs and the requirements/duties of each position. If hired, local employees will start training and work in the early spring of 2020.

Interested applicants can RSVP at Eventbrite. Not able to attend? Apply online at 2020census.gov/jobs.
