On Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, at about 10:05 p.m., Police and Fire Department personnel responded to Raymond Avenue and Washington Boulevard regarding a report of a traffic collision with injuries.

Upon arrival, first responders found that a 29 year-old Pasadena woman had been driving a red, 2002 Honda Accord south on Raymond Avenue. The driver of the vehicle struck a pedestrian while making an eastbound turn onto Washington Boulevard from Raymond Avenue. The pedestrian was critically injured in the collision.

The pedestrian was preliminarily identified as a 47 year-old woman from Pasadena. She sustained life threating injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Honda Accord was not injured in the collision and remained at the scene. She fully cooperated with the police investigation and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.

Speed does not appear to have been a factor in the collision. Preliminary investigation suggests the driver of the Honda Accord did not see the pedestrian walking southbound in the crosswalk on the east side of Raymond Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.

This collision is being investigated by the Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
