Multi-phase project will upgrade existing natural gas main serving Pasadena area customers

SoCalGas will begin a multi-phase pipeline installation project in Pasadena starting on June 10. Crews will upgrade the existing natural gas main in the areas of Lake Avenue and Mountain Street in Pasadena. Lanes will be reduced from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Mountain Street and Lake Avenue from approximately June 10, 2019 through July 5, 2019 depending on weather and other factors.

To perform this work safely, lane closures and parking restrictions will be necessary. Flaggers will alternate the flow of traffic at the intersection of Mountain Street and Lake Avenue. Additionally, the eastbound lane of Bell Street will be reduced from Lake Avenue to Mentor Avenue and the westbound lane will be reduced from Mentor Avenue to Wilson Avenue. There will be no parking on the north and south sides of Bell Street while this work is completed.

Residents and local businesses may hear some work-related noise. During work hours, commuters passing by the work site will see excavation, equipment and vehicles.

No interruption to natural gas service is anticipated.

Customers may smell the odor of natural gas. Although this is normal when crews are working, SoCalGas encourages anyone who smells gas to call (800) 427-2200. SoCalGas is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
