Pasadena Police Kill Suspect Pointing Firearm at Officers

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau Investigators are assisting the Pasadena Police Department in investigating the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting which occurred on Friday, May 17, 2019, at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the 1500 Block of Glen Avenue, Pasadena.

Investigators have learned that Pasadena Officers responded to the location regarding a man with a gun call. Upon their arrival, the officers observed the suspect standing within the fence yard of a property, wearing a ballistic bullet proof vest and holding a firearm. The suspect yelled at officers and then pointed the firearm at them. An officer involved shooting occurred and the suspect retreated to the rear yard and out of the officers view. Officers approached the residence and located the suspect in the rear yard unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics responded and pronounced the adult male suspect deceased at the scene.

Investigators recovered a rifle with a large capacity drum style magazine and a handgun in close proximity to the suspect. There was evidence to support that the suspect fired at least one round.

The identity of the suspect, who is deceased, remains unknown at this time.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
