Today, at about 9:39 a.m., Pasadena Police and Fire Department personnel responded to Madison Avenue and Del Mar Boulevard regarding a report of a traffic collision with injuries.

Upon arrival, first responders found that a gray and black, 2011 Ducati motorcycle being driven west on Del Mar Boulevard by a 35 year-old Pasadena man collided with a gray, 2010 Hyundai Elantra four door that was driving south on Madison Avenue across Del Mar Boulevard. The motorcycle collided broadside with the Elantra, critically injuring its rider who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Hyundai Elantra was identified as a 24 year-old Pasadena woman. She was not injured in the collision and remained at the scene. The woman fully cooperated with the police investigation and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.

Speed does not appear to have been a factor in the collision. Preliminary investigation suggests the woman did not see the motorcyclist travelling west on Del Mar Boulevard and pulled out in front of him as she drove south across Del Mar Boulevard from the stop sign at Madison Avenue.

This collision is being investigated by the Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call Traffic Section Sergeant Dennis Beene at (626) 744-4343, or you may report information anonymously by calling “Crime Stoppers” by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), using your smartphone by downloading the “P3 Tips” mobile app on Google Play or the Apple App Store or by using the website lacrimestoppers.org.
