On Friday, March 29, 2019, officers assigned to the Pasadena Police Department Traffic Section conducted a traffic enforcement program throughout the City of Pasadena. Officers were on the lookout for dangerous driving behavior including speeding, red light violations, right of way violations, and other violations that lead to traffic collisions. The goal of these programs is to enhance public safety through enforcement and education.
Officers conducted enforcement at various locations during the program, which ran from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. “As always, a majority of our enforcement efforts today focused on locations suggested to us by community members,” said Traffic Section Lieutenant Mark Goodman. “Community engagement related to these operations really assist us in working on locations where traffic safety is a concern.”
Friday’s program netted a total of 149 citations, 35 of which were for speeding. Four people were cited for running a red light, and the remaining 110 cites were issued for other dangerous driving such as right of way violations and failing to stop for posted stop signs. One motorist was found to be driving with a suspended license.
Funding for this traffic enforcement program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
