Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Pasadena and nine co-sponsors, the 8th annual climate-change forum, titled “It’s Worse Than We Thought”, will be centered around the urgency of smart, bold action to save the earth from irreversible environmental change. The event will be on April 6 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church at 500 E Colorado Blvd. The forum is free and open to the public.
The focus of the forum will be Mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change and the power of community efforts. Co-sponsoring climate-activist groups will open the forum with reports on their progress and how to support one another. Lauren Faber O’Connor, chief sustainability officer for the city of Los Angeles will be discussing “How to Keep Our Cities Cool”, and Jonathan Parfrey of Climate Resolve and Gary Gero, Los Angeles (LA) County chief sustainability officer, also will comment on cooling plans for the LA Basin. Jess Adkins, Caltech professor of geochemistry and global environmental science, will discuss how essential it is to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, progress being made and further challenges.
