On Monday, Dec. 18, at about 10:27 pm, Fire and Police Department personnel responded to Los Robles Avenue just south of Parke Street regarding a report of an injury traffic collision. The collision involved a black 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 29 year-old Pasadena man who was a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Chevrolet Tahoe was travelling south on Los Robles Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian was crossing Los Robles Avenue from west to east, south of the intersection and was not in a crosswalk. Witnesses reported that the pedestrian stepped off of the curb directly in front of the vehicle as it was driving southbound.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 53-year old Los Angeles man, remained at the scene and was not injured. He was cooperative with the investigation and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Investigation suggests that the pedestrian was possibly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, and this may have been a contributing factor in the incident. The driver of the Chevrolet was not arrested.

The investigation of the collision is being conducted by the Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team. The identity of the decedent is currently being withheld pending positive identification and family notification. Anyone who may have witnessed

the collision or has information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Traffic Section Lieutenant Diego Torres at (626) 744-7159 or the Watch Commander at (626) 744-4620.
