Iconic restaurant to roll out red carpet with sundaes, Doo Wop Band, 50s-style dancers, car hops & vintage cars
Amid a colorful clad lineup of waiters and waitresses serving signature favorites, including sliders and the legendary bittersweet hot fudge sundaes, the owners of a Southern California landmark, Twohey’s Restaurant, are pulling out all the stops in celebration of 75 years in business.
The birthday bash kicks off with celebration on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1224 N. Atlantic Boulevard in Alhambra, California.
To commemorate the year-long celebration, Twohey’s, home of the Little Stinko Burger, is featuring its famous 75 ice cream floats on the menu for customers to enjoy throughout the day.
Present co-owner Jim Christos and his family, together with original owners Jean and Jerry Twohey, will welcome members of the community, including civic and community leaders from San Gabriel Valley, who will partake in the festivities that include a key to the city presented to Twohey’s by the City of Alhambra and the sharing of the restaurant’s new catering menu.
Headlining the festivities include vintage cars from the 40s-70s, city officials from Alhambra, Pasadena, South Pasadena and San Marino, along with present and past owners of Twohey’s, delving into a larger than life hot fudge sundae in the Restaurant’s Huntington Room, the present queen and princess from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, past Pasadena Tournament of Roses princess, a Doo Wop Band: Woodie And The Longboards performing live entertainment from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, 50-style dancers, and waitresses dressed as car hops serving the restaurant’s 75th Anniversary menu among other signature specialties.
The 75th Anniversary Classics menu includes an array of entrees: Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Fried Steak, Liver and Onions, Sand Dabs, Angus Short Ribs, Stuffed Peppers. For dessert, guests can enjoy Strawberry Short Cake, and a Special Shake of the Day.
