A 31-year-old Pasadena father has entered a plea for assaulting his son’s Little League baseball coach with a bat during an argument last September, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.
Miguel Angel MejIa pleaded no contest yesterday to one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, a baseball bat, in case GA099746.
MejIa was immediately sentenced to three years probation and ordered to stay away from the victim, complete 45 days of Caltrans work and anger management classes.
On Sept. 27, 2016, MejIa assaulted the victim after he benched the defendant’s son during a game at Villa Park in Pasadena, prosecutors said. The defendant swung the bat at the coach before other parents intervened to prevent the assault, prosecutors added.
Deputy District Attorney Juan Mejia prosecuted the case.
The Pasadena Police Department was the investigative agency.
