Event Live Stream Broadens Access and Participation

This year’s annual Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) State of the Schools address by School Board President Kimberly Kenne is set for Sept. 27. This year’s event will be streamed live and feature an interactive town hall that invites viewer questions and comments via email, texts, and social media.

The annual address is required to be delivered each September by city charter.

The address will include a town hall on technology and parent engagement, moderated by Kim Baldonado, NBC4 Southern California general assignment reporter.

President Kenne stated, “This year’s live stream of our annual speech will hopefully encourage broader participation by families, students, and community members and help to emphasize the many ways that people can engage with our district using technology. Improving our parent and family engagement is a top priority for our district and the board of education this academic year.”

The State of Schools will also feature an “Innovation Exhibit” of student inventors and innovators. Hosted by the Pasadena Educational Foundation, the exhibit is themed “science and technology childcare for school-aged children” and will be available free of charge from Pasadena LEARNs and showcased by PUSD’s Food and Nutrition Services.

Schedule for the evening’s events is as follows:

– 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Innovation Exhibit, hosted by the Pasadena Educational Foundation.
– 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: State of the Schools address and town hall.
– 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Reception hosted by PUSD Food and Nutrition Services.
