Pasadena Man Charged in Amusement Park Ticket Scam

A Pasadena resident is accused of scamming numerous victims with fraudulent amusement park tickets was charged with grand theft and other counts last Thursday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Brian Edward Anderton, 43, of Pasadena was expected to be arraigned Friday in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. He is charged with five counts, including grand theft of personal property and petty theft in case BA449577.

Victims came into contact with Anderton through Craigslist, where he allegedly advertised Disneyland tickets for sale, prosecutors said. The defendant allegedly stole more than $2,400 from five people between January and August 2016.

Prosecutors said the victims learned of the scam when they arrived at the amusement park and were notified that the tickets were invalid. Bail for Anderton is recommended at $59,000.

If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum sentence of five years in state prison. The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
