With a long standing commitment to ensuring that San Gabriel Valley’s young children have the resources they need to be thriving members of our community, Patricia Huffman, a long-time advocate of children and early learning professionals, will be honored for her commitment to children and youth during the 33rd Annual Policymaker Breakfast at the Altadena Town and Country Club on April 29 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The Marge Wyatt Advocacy Award, presented by Options for Learning and sponsored by Beacon Media, Pacific Oaks, Rose Hills Memorial Park, ChapCare, Longo Toyota, and Thorson Buick, recognizes community leaders in their commitment to children and youth. The annual event draws a large array of business leaders, community members, and legislators to discuss emergent issues in the field of child development and early learning.
“I have watched Pat’s commitment to children and families in our community for over 30 years. She is a shining star of self-less dedication, high-quality work, and mentoring of younger professionals. And she has contributed enormously to the success of Options for Learning. She is a model for all of us,” said Cliff Marcussen, executive director at Options for Learning.
The award will be presented by Options for Learning executives, along with acknowledgements by several local elected officials. Susan Wood, executive director at The Children’s Center at Caltech, will keynote the event with a spotlight on the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math for young children.
