Resident Wants Pasadena Council to Take a Look at Charter Reform

Dear Editor:
I recommend that the Pasadena City Council appoint individuals to serve on a Charter Reform Committee for changes in the City Charter.
a. Election reform.
b. Selling city assets to reduce the $900 million dollar debt.
c. Adopt some of the Los Angeles County Civil Grand Jury Final Reports recommendations on the process of selecting Consultants. Budget reform and reducing costly lawsuits (L.A.U.S.D. paid $139 million to settle one sex discrimination case).
There has been an increase in crime in Pasadena while this City Council has discharged 22 Police Officers in past years. 22 – Police officers have resigned in the last two months to seek positions with other law enforcement agencies. Perhaps some City Councilmembers want to replace the court system on whether a police officer is guilty of any alleged misconduct. There is a correlation between the number of police officers and the crime rate.
Very Truly Yours,
– Floyd Folben
