With the New Year comes hope for new beginnings, and Victory Bible Church in Pasadena will open its doors to job seekers for a free job fair on Thursday, Jan. 21.
Military veterans, currently employed workers looking for new career opportunities, and those who are presently unemployed are invited to meet with the more than 40 employers who are expected to participate.
The Pasadena Job, College, and Veterans Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Victory Bible Church, which is located at 1497 N. Hill Ave. in Pasadena. To register, visit www.vbcpasadena.org.
Job seekers will have the opportunity to network and interview for a number of full-time and part-time positions, all in one place and all in one day. Many of Southern California’s leading companies, government organizations, staffing agencies, nonprofit organizations and other businesses will be looking to fill as many as 450 positions in accounting, administration, clerical, customer service, education, financial services, health care, nursing, law enforcement, management, manufacturing, non-profit, sales, transportation and more. On average, hourly pay rates range from $10-$25, but there is also an assortment of higher-level job openings.
The job fair will also feature various employment resources and higher educational opportunities. Attendees should dress in business attire and come equipped with resumes.
To help job seekers prepare and sharpen their interviewing skills, Victory Bible Church will host a free pre-fair resume writing and interviewing boot camp on Thursday, Jan. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. The workshop will provide valuable tips about updating resumes, online job searches, how to dress for success and the best approaches to interviewing for a job. In addition, it will offer information about the legal and financial pressures of finding a job.
Workshop attendees will be given a “fast pass” to avoid waiting in line at the Jan. 21 job fair. Only those who attend the workshop will receive a “fast pass.” To register, visit www.vbcpasadena.org.
