Monrovia Fire and Rescue started its annual Spark of Love toy drive in conjunction with Small Business Saturday. With their engine parked in front of Movie Studio Grill on Myrtle Avenue, firefighters accepted donations of gifts and “passed the boot” to collect funds to purchase more toys.  The majority of these donations will go to Foothill Unity Center’s clients.

According to Fire Chief Brad Dover this drive has been going on for more than a decade. He explained that not only were the gifts sent to Unity Center, but also to other local charities and churches. “We have made certain that families impacted by fire receive a real Christmas” he said.

New toys and donations can be brought to either fire station: 141 E. Lemon (just east of Myrtle) or 2055 S. Myrtle Ave. (a long block south of Duarte Road). Cash donations are always appreciated as the firefighters love to shop for toys for the kids.
