Have weekend road trips to Las Vegas become something of a chore? Do they no longer offer the glitz and glamor that you crave? One way to freshen up your weekend breaks to Sin City is to change your accommodations. If you habitually stay on the Strip of Las Vegas Boulevard in the thick of it, you might have grown tired of the hustle and bustle. An excellent way to put a fresh perspective on visits to Vegas is to stay off-Strip, away from the neon lights, but a short taxi ride away when you want a piece of the action.

It is refreshing visiting some of the off-Strip locations. That’s especially true when competition among the leading Strip resorts has diminished due to fewer and fewer organizations owning more and more of the casinos. It gives you a chance to get a taste of the local life and avoid the incessant hordes of stag-and-hen dos that take over the Strip on a weekly basis. If you’re not 21 anymore, and you want to get a different perspective of life in Vegas, check out these great-value off-Strip resorts.

Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa

Red Rock Casino is close to the Red Rock Canyon, so it is clear that this resort is some way from Las Vegas Boulevard. However, Red Rock’s detachment from the Strip lifestyle is encouraging more people to visit. It offers spectacular views of the canyon, 10 high-end dining options and a plush casino floor with even some nonsmoking areas to boot.

The Palms Casino Resort

The Palms is another four-star resort that is one of the best off-Strip locations for those who enjoy late nights and pool parties. Situated in the shadow of Las Vegas Boulevard and its majestic skyline resorts such as the Stratosphere, The Palms offers a string of famous nightclubs such as Moon as well as four live concert venues, hosting some of the world’s biggest stars.

The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa

The Westin offers the ideal happy medium, allowing you to base yourself away from the Strip but stay only half a block away from the action when you crave it. This resort is pet-friendly, allowing pets onto its casino floor. Young families will also appreciate the Westin’s approach to free stays for under-18s and the fact that almost the entire resort is nonsmoking.

The Orleans Hotel & Casino

With almost 2,000 hotel rooms and a vast entertainment roster, the Orleans has become a popular family-friendly off-Strip resort. With two live entertainment venues in-house, 14 restaurants, a video arcade for the youngsters and a pool and spa, the Orleans offers something for everyone away from the madness of the Strip.

One thing’s for certain: You don’t have to stay on the Strip to have a magical time in Las Vegas.
