In her latest message to the Monrovia Unified School District (MUSD) community, Superintendent Katherine Thorossian acknowledged that some families within MUSD are being directly affected by the partial government shutdown, now the second-longest in U.S. history, which began on Dec. 22.

In her message, Dr. Thorossian assured those families that MUSD will offer the resources it has to provide additional support. If families find themselves struggling they can contact their school administrator or counselor for referrals to community support services.

According to CNBC, since the start of the shutdown approximately 800,000 government workers have been out of work or working without pay.
