Recently, the county began a program of synchronizing signals along Foothill Blvd. from western Pasadena through Monrovia to Shamrock Ave. The aim is to improve the timing of the signals to improve movement of vehicles and reduce traffic.

People have begun to complain about delays at certain signals in the city. According to Oliver Chi in his City Manager’s Update this week, the delays are because the county has not completed this work. The County has advised city staff that while the timing is being adjusted, it could become a bit “disoriented.”

Chi called for people to be patient “as LA County works to perfect the timing at each intersection along Foothill Blvd. ”Adding, “It can take several adjustments to perfect the timing patterns at every intersection, and the work does require multiple agencies to work together to bring about the best traffic results.

Chi explained that the County had advised the city that the work should be completed within approximately one month. After all the work to bring the roadway up to par, it will be nice to finally have unobstructed movement along Foothill.
