At Tuesday’s City Council Meeting, the Council approved the contract with the Sully-Miller Contracting Company for the infrastructure improvements in the next area to be upgraded. With the work almost complete on the Southeast and Southwest Sectors, the city is turning to the next area to be addressed, the Northwest Section.
The completed areas include all the streets, water and sewer lines from Colorado Boulevard on the north and the 210 Freeway on the south and from the city limit lines on both the east and west. The Northwest Section covers the area east of Myrtle Avenue from Colorado Boulevard north to Hillcrest. City Manager Oliver Chi anticipates this work to be done in the fall of this year.
Once this sector is complete, the work will move on the South Sector, then all the territory south of the 210 Freeway. The city staff estimates this work will be done in winter of 2017. The next sector will be all the area north of Hillcrest which will be worked on in 2018-2019, and then the final part will be the area east of Myrtle from Hillcrest on the north and Colorado Boulevard on the south.
The Monrovia Renewal Citizen Advisory Committee will meet on July 26 at 7 p.m. at the Monrovia Public Library. Members of the community are welcome to attend the meeting that will provide the committee with additional information about the project. The review at that time will include looking at ways the project can be improved in Phase II by learning from the experiences of Phase I.
