Arcadia Crime Blotters: Sept. 27 – Oct. 3

Sept. 27

At 8:22 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Rodeo Road regarding a traffic collision with one injury. Witnesses reported the suspect’s vehicle collided into the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene. Monrovia Police Department was able to locate the suspect’s vehicle and discovered the 39-year-old male from Duarte was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital by Arcadia Fire.

At 8:17 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of North Old Ranch Road regarding a burglary investigation. The officer discovered the home, which is currently under construction, was burglarized. The victim mentioned there was a previous unreported burglary on Sept. 30 where the unknown suspect(s) fled with numerous sinks and a skid sprayer. It is unknown if the second burglary was committed by the same suspects. There is no suspect information at this time.

Sept. 28

At 2:56 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of North Second Avenue in response to a grand theft from vehicle report. Sometime between 10 p.m. the previous night and 2:53 a.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and fled with speakers valued at more than $950. There are no investigative leads as of Oct. 6.

At 9:03 a.m., an officer responded to the 1700 block of South Second Avenue regarding a fraud report. The victim was contacted by the suspect regarding a job opportunity. The suspect issued two checks to the victim for more than the agreed upon amount for the victim’s services. The victim was then instructed to transfer the overpayments via the money transfer application, Zelle. The victim complied and then was notified by her bank that the two checks issued to her were declined due to insufficient funds. The victim discovered she was a victim of fraud. The suspect went by the name “David Turner.” The investigation is ongoing.

At 10:07 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2400 block of South Sixth Avenue regarding a burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed the lone suspect entered the victim’s unoccupied residence but was scared off when the resident spoke through the security cameras. There was no loss and there were no signs of forced entry. The suspect is described as a male, possibly Black or Hispanic, seen wearing pants, a hooded sweatshirt, and a mask. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.

At 4:05 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Orange Grove Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue regarding a possible driver under the influence of alcohol. Officers located the suspect’s vehicle and instead of pulling over, a pursuit ensued. The suspect drove onto the 210 Freeway headed east and was ultimately pulled over by CHP near the Baseline exit. The 68-year-old male from Las Vegas was arrested for Evading a Police Officer, Driving Under the Influence, and Reckless Driving. He was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Sept. 29

At 7:29 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a suspect in custody for shoplifting. A store employee witnessed the suspect, a 35-year-old female transient from Pasadena steal less than $200 worth of men’s clothing. A records check revealed the suspect had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Sept. 30

At 5:25 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Mini Mart, located at 900 West Duarte Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage captured a suspect shatter the front glass door before removing the Lottery scratcher dispenser. He was unable to load the dispenser into the vehicle, so he removed numerous scratchers from the dispenser, left the dispenser, and fled in the vehicle. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5-foot-10, 240 pounds, wearing a gray jacket, gray sweatpants, and a mask. The driver of the suspects’ vehicle was described as a Hispanic male, 25 to 35 years old, about 6 feet tall, and 300 pounds. The vehicle is a newer model, gray Nissan Maxima. The investigation is ongoing.

At noon, an officer responded to the 100 block of California Street regarding a stolen vehicle report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect stole the victim’s locked vehicle sometime between 11:20 a.m. and noon on Sept. 30. The investigation is ongoing.

Oct. 1

At 12:21 a.m., an officer responded to a business in the 300 block of East Huntington Drive regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed an altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend escalated and resulted in the female sustaining visible injuries. The victim declined medical attention from Arcadia Fire. The suspect, a 27-year-old male from Perris was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At 9:30 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Walnut Avenue regarding a battery investigation. While investigating a disturbance call, the officer discovered the suspect bit and hit her boyfriend. The suspect, a 21-year-old female from Goleta, was arrested and transported to the Pasadena City Jail for booking.

At 5:44 p.m., officers responded to Motel 6, located at 225 Colorado Place, regarding a battery report. Officers determined the victim was punched in the face by the suspect for no apparent reason. The victim declined medical attention. The suspect, a 39-year-old female from Rialto, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed she was also on parole at the time of the crime.

Oct. 2

At 11:13 a.m., an officer responded to Ralphs, located at 211 E. Foothill Blvd., regarding a petty theft report. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects stole numerous bottles of alcohol after removing the security caps. The suspects are described as Black males, both in their thirties, both wearing Hawaiian styled shirts. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage.

Oct. 3

At 8:01 p.m., an officer took a telephonic report of a residential burglary report that occurred in the 300 block of East Duarte Road. The resident returned from being out of town and discovered unknown suspect(s) entered her home by unknown means and stole a wallet, watches, a car battery, and electronics. There is no suspect information at this time.
