An Arcadia man pleaded no contest last Wednesday to beating the mother of his two children when she visited his home last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Lisa Tanner said Robert Michael Mendez, 28, entered the plea to one count of injuring a girlfriend or child’s parent.

Sentencing is scheduled on Nov. 10 in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch. Mendez faces four years in state prison as a result of the plea.

The defendant assaulted the victim on Sept. 29, 2019, at his Arcadia home, the prosecutor said. When the victim attempted to escape, the defendant followed the woman and dragged her back to the home while beating her, the prosecutor added.

Case GA106596 was investigated by the Arcadia Police Department.
