Parents wondering how to support their children’s learning during the COVID-19 closures can look to Arcadia Public Library for activities and resources this spring. Even though the building itself is closed, Arcadia Public Library is offering curbside pick-up, telephone assistance, online resources and more.

The newest addition to the Library’s roster of resources for parents and children is Spring Reading 2.0. Running until May 23, children ages 4 to 14 can register online using Beanstack via the Library’s webpage. Once they’ve signed up, kids then read and log up to 25 book titles to earn VIRTUAL badges. When someone has earned all five VIRTUAL logging badges, they will be automatically entered into a grand prize drawing for one of three $25 Amazon gift cards. Participants may also complete fun activities to earn an additional badge. All reading and logging must be completed by Saturday, May 23, 2020. Grand prize winners will be contacted by Monday, June 1.

Readers and their parents can access great digital books through TumbleBook Library, OverDrive, Libby, or Gale eBooks. Library staff will also get books for you — up to 10 at a time — and help arrange for you to pick them up. It’s all available on the Library’s website through the “eBooks and More” page.

For more information, call (626) 821-5566 or visit the Arcadia Public Library’s website. The Arcadia Public Library is located at 20 W. Duarte Rd., Arcadia. The Library is open via telephone, online, and online chat Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
