A former maintenance supervisor at a mall in Arcadia has been found guilty of sexually assaulting three women working for him, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.
A jury yesterday found Diego Briones Cervantes (date of birth 5/12/81) of San Gabriel guilty of one count each of forcible rape, attempted rape, sexual penetration by foreign object and sexual battery by restraint as well as two counts each of forcible oral copulation and false imprisonment by violence.
Deputy District Attorney Fernanda Barreto said the jury, which deliberated for four days, also found true the special allegation of multiple victims.
Sentencing is scheduled on May 24 in Department T of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Alhambra Branch. Cervantes faces life in state prison.
All of the victims were women under his supervision and the assaults happened during work hours at the mall on or between Sept. 1, 2015, and Feb. 2, 2017, the prosecutor said.
Additionally, Cervantes retaliated against his victims for resisting his attacks by cutting their work hours, according to evidence presented at the trial.
This case was investigated by the Arcadia Police Department.
