Arcadia Weekly will be attending the 18th Annual St. Baldrick’s Event on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 8 PM at Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant. Come visit the Arcadia Weekly booth to win cool prizes by spinning the wheel of fortune!

What is St. Baldrick’s event about?  What is the reason for their existence?

St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a non-profit organization aiming to raise funds to help finding cures for children diagnosed with cancer. Their mission is to find cures for childhood cancers and to give survivors long and healthy lives; the term “childhood” includes infants, children, teens, and young adults. Childhood cancer is one of the biggest issues that the world is facing; according to research, every two minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide.

However, pharmaceutical companies only donated a tiny portion (almost nothing) for drug development in childhood cancers while they donated about 60 percent of all funding for drug development in adult cancers.

The reason why St. Baldrick’s Foundation came up with St. Baldrick’s Day is because they want people to be able to support their cause in fighting against childhood cancers. Some of the ways you could do to help or support the organization (or their cause) include:

  • Donating funds
  • Be a shavee (shave your head), barber, or even volunteer at any of the events

So, what are you waiting for? Join us on this charity event to support childhood cancers research while having the opportunity to win some cool prizes from our booth!
