Deputy District Attorney Discusses Impact of Recent Changes in Law

Michele Hanisee, the president of the Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney’s Association, gave a detailed presentation to the Monrovia City Council on the impacts of Assembly Bill 109 (AB109) and Proposition 47 and 57, which address law enforcement as well as the judicial and criminal justice system.

Members of the Monrovia City Council welcomed Hanisee and were eager to hear her presentation, especially with the growing concern of criminal activity rising within the city. At the presentation, City Manager Oliver Chi shared information about the city’s recent increase in criminal activity. As a part of the city’s Taking back our Parks and Streets Campaign to better educate our population as to the situation, Chi presented a brochure and fact sheets the city has prepared and a sample letter to legislators regarding the problem.
