The Monrovia Old House Preservation Group will hold its 35th annual tour of Historic Homes next weekend, May 7th from 10 am to 4 pm. This year the tour will be focus on Monrovia’s new Historic District: North Encinitas.

Earlier in April, the City Council, on the recommendation of the Historic Preservation Commission approved the designation for the first two blocks on Encinitas.  This is the city’s second Historic District, joining Wildrose as a Historic District.

All six of the homes on the tour were built between 1901 and 1921.  The Anderson House Museum, home of the Monrovia Historic Society is also on the tour.  It is located on Lime between Ivy and Canyon.

More information about the homes on the tour can be found in the on line edition of this publication.

Before the day of the event tickets can be purchased in person from the Monrovia Chamber of Commerce and Dollmakers’ Kattywompus, both located on Myrtle Avenue (Adults $20, Seniors $15, Teens $10).

They can also be ordered online at www.mohpg.org. If buying tickets on line, they can only be purchased through Friday evening.

Tickets may also be purchased the day of the event, but prices go up $5 in each category.  They will be on sale in the vendor area in the middle of the block on Encinitas at Cedar Avenue.
