Patrick Garcia, the Monrovia Unified School District’s Director of Performing Arts, has announced that a gala, “Stars that Light Up the Night,” is being planned to benefit the performing arts in the District. The gala will be held on Saturday, March 18, at the Doubletree Hotel in Monrovia.

While several patrons have already agreed to sponsor the event, sponsorships and tables for that night are still available. Sponsorships are available at several levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Copper and Bronze. Those who have already agreed to be sponsors for the event, in no particular order, are: Drs. Louise & Clint Taylor, Fellowship Monrovia, Bella Sera, Betty Sandford, Janet Wall, Karen Mitchell and Randy Townsend, Darrell Brooke, Kim and Mark Petulla, Jeanine and Brad Scott, Diane Balsamo, “Gentile, McCloskey, and Company,” Sierra AutoCars,Speranta Group, Landie and Daniel Lopez, Bernice Garcia, and Rob Hammond.

Invitations have been sent to those in the community who have expressed an interest in the programs. Everyone is welcome and anyone else who is interested in attending may contact Julia Clegg, of the Performing Arts Department for further informationcan call at (626) 471-2032 or email her at www.jclegg@monroviaschools.net

The evening will feature not just a wonderful dinner and cocktails, but also a cabaret starring several of the actors from the professional productions staged at the Taylor Performing Arts Center. Among those who have already agreed to perform are Andrew Fernando, whose talent in the productions at the TPAC has so far been limited to directing, but who is considered a world class opera tenor, and Monrovia’s own Marjorie Zuk, who starred in Thoroughly Modern Millie at the TPAC.

A live auction will be held that evening for several intriguing items. Details on these items will be made public in the near future. There will also be an opportunity to win a lovely diamond ring generously donated by Gem City Jewelers.

This is an opportunity to support the performing arts in this community.
