An early Monday morning fire injured two firefighters and burned four homes and a garage in Monrovia.

Monrovia Fire Chief Brad Dover estimated damages at $450,000 to the structures and at least $50,000 to contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.

The fire started just before 4 a.m. and damaged three houses, a duplex, and a detached garage in the 300 block of East Lime Avenue and the 300 block of South California Avenue.

Dover said the fire began at one home and spread rapidly to the other structures.

Two firefighters suffered minor leg injuries. They were treated at a hospital and later released, he added.

*Editor’s Note: This story has modified – it originally stated that the fire took place Tuesday morning.
