On Tuesday, June 21, the Monrovia Garden Club celebrated its 85th year of existence with the installation of officers at its annual potluck dinner.

Those assuming office are President Lydia Jeffrey, Vice President Cissy Leftoff, Treasurer Tracee Marra, Suzanne Gutierrez (membership), Recording Secretary Rona Poli, Corresponding Secretary Karen Bigler, and Karen Suarez (publicity). The additional directors will be Gail Koons, Pat McLaughlin, and Jo Anna Ritchey.

Among those celebrating the longevity of the club was Larry Gimlich. Gimlich, while not serving on the board this year, has held many offices over the years and has regularly won awards for his garden. He also generously donates plants he has propagated to the club. He takes special delight in announcing that he is even older than the club, but still enjoys his garden and the hobby of gardening.

The next meeting of the club will be September 27, as the group is dark during the summer months.
