At its May 17 meeting the Monrovia City Council will review the recommendations of the Street Fair Oversight Committee, Mayor’s Old Town Advisory Board (MOTAB), and staff regarding the management of the Friday Night Street Fair. There were four responses to the city’s Request for Proposal (RFP). The four firms responding were Raw Inspirations, Green Leaf Events Inc. (that currently runs the event), Coastal Pacific L.L.C., and LA ParkWorks (that once ran this event).

City staff and Councilmembers Larry Spicer and Becky Shelvin reviewed the proposals, conducted interviews, and made site visits to events held by Raw Inspirations and Coastal Pacific. The oversight committee reviewed the issue at their meeting yesterday and MOTAB is scheduled to discuss it today at its regularly scheduled meeting. Staff will make its formal report to the city council at the next council meeting. The report should be available for review on the city’s website: www.cityofmonrovia.org under “Government, Meetings Agendas and Minutes.”

At that meeting the council should formally review the report and (with luck) make a decision about the fair’s management in the future.
