On Feb. 20 at 1 p.m., the Monrovia Public Library invites you to meet Harriet Glickman, the former teacher who helped create Franklin Armstrong, the first African American Peanuts character.
In1968, shortly after the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Glickman wrote a letter to Charles Schulz requesting that he include an African American child in the comic strip. She will be at the library to share her experience, followed by a showing of the 1977 movie, “Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown” featuring Charlie Brown’s best friend Franklin and all the Peanuts gang.
