The Arcadia Vietnam Veterans Monument will be recognizing a one year anniversary with free bottled water, Vietnam Veteran lapel pins, Anniversary wrist bands, bumper stickers and a few opportunity drawings at Supervisor Kathryn Barger’s 20th Annual Memorial Day Tribute to Veterans and Military Families at the Arcadia County Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday May 27. Hundreds of people comprised of veterans, families and friends attend this annual event.

“This annual veteran event hosted by Supervisor Barger and the County of Los Angeles recognizes and pays tribute to all our military service veterans and military families wherever they may be. It is always something to look forward to and is an outstanding segue to Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.” said Founder of the Arcadia Vietnam War Monument Gene Glasco.

Marking one year since its dedication on May 28, 2016, the Arcadia Memorial Monument provides Veterans and their families visiting the Arcadia County Park a place to honor the men and women of our Country’s military services and remember their sacrifices. A bold inscription on one side of the Monument reads: “Dedicated to the Men and Women Who Gave Their Lives to Defend Our Freedom.”

The United States has nearly 22 million military veterans, with 2 million of those living in California. It has been estimated that 381,000 veterans reside within Los Angeles County and 130,000 of them are Vietnam era veterans. The Arcadia Vietnam War Monument Memorial stands in tribute to all the men and women that served in the United States Armed Forces. It was created in honor of fourteen Arcadia servicemen who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.
