“Council Member Crudgington attended the Rio Hondo/San Gabriel River Watershed EWMP Group with staff, and while good dialogue occurred during the meeting, the representatives from the State Water Resources Control Board were unapologetic about the implications that we face in complying with the provisions of our MS4 Permit (initial cost estimate $214.15 million) , which mandate the completion of significant capital projects by 2017. Furthermore, it is our sense that even under the best case realistic scenario regarding progress that we can make during the next few months, the indications we received from the State Water Resources Control Board staff point to a situation where we will likely be at odds with the State regarding this particular matter moving forward …” – City Manager’s Report for Wednesday, Jan. 20.
