It was a bright and chipper crowd that arrived to greet both familiar and new faces last Thursday morning, Sept. 15, at the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Networking Breakfast, hosted by the always lovely Embassy Suites by Hilton and sponsored by Rose Hills.

Filling in as guest presenter was Seth Mittleman of Chiropractic Health Center, who regaled all in attendance with an uncanny advertisement parody of the song “September”

As one of the largest-attended and most-profitable events that comes out to the Los Angeles area, everyone in the audience was curious to hear about the upcoming Breeder’s Cup, which is taking place Nov. 4 and 5 at Santa Anita Park.

Brandy Stoeckinger of Breeder’s Cup elaborated on the history and details of Breeder’s Cup, which has unofficially taken on the moniker: “the Super Bowl of Horse Racing.” The Breeder’s Cup World Championships stands as one of the world’s greatest and most-prestigious horse racing events; this year will mark the event’s record ninth time at Santa Anita Park.

The two-day event consists of 13 races and more than 150 horses from 13 countries. Through the continued participation of the best horses, trainers, and owners from around the world, Breeders’ Cup has established a reputation as a showcase for thoroughbred racing at the highest level of international competition.

Being such a large and impressive event, which in Los Angeles is only outdone by the Rose Bowl, has gained the attention of many renowned celebrities such as Pierce Brosnan and Kate Upton.

To put on a race of such a grand scale, Breeder’s Cup relies on support from the City of Arcadia, Santa Anita Park, as well as community volunteers. This year Breeder’s Cup is projected to have hundreds of volunteers helping as greeters, ushers, photographers, and many other roles. For more information on becoming a volunteer to the Breeder’s Cup, please contact Kaitlyn Lavo, Santa Anita Park’s volunteer coordinator, via email at Kaitlyn.Lavo@santaanita.com.
