
Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing to assist Monrovia Police Department personnel with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a missing woman. Their investigation began Monday, June 15, 2015, when they responded to the 800 block West Olive Avenue, Monrovia.
The missing woman was identified as LaJoya McCoy, a 31-year-old female, resident of Monrovia. She was seen last week, and was since reported missing by a family member after not arriving for some appointments.
Monrovia police personnel returned Monday, to Ms. McCoy’s residence in the 800 block of West Olive Avenue, Monrovia, to conduct follow-up investigation and discovered evidence of foul play. Based upon this, Monrovia Police Department personnel contacted Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau personnel and requested their assistance in the investigation.
During a grid search of the area Tuesday morning, Ms. McCoy’s vehicle was located in the 200 block of Cypress Avenue, Monrovia. A human body was located inside the vehicle.
At this time, the vehicle is being processed by Scientific Services Bureau and Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner personnel.
Family members reportedly told news outlets that the body found in the car, is in fact that of LaJoya McCoy, a mother of two. A Los Angeles County coroner’s official said Wednesday that the identity of the woman is pending notification of next of kin.
