Arcadia Blotters for Jan. 3-9, 2016

For the period of Sunday, January 3rd, through Saturday, January 9th, the Police Department responded to 896 calls for service of which 135 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

 

January 3

Just after 12:35 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Live Oak Avenue for failing to stop at a red signal. A records check of the subject revealed the 31-year-old female from Palmdale had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was driving with a suspended license. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a small amount of cocaine. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

 

Around 6:35 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Huntington Drive for having expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 41-year-old male from Temple City was driving without insurance and did not have the required ignition-interlock device installed on his vehicle. He was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

 

January 4

At about 12:13 a.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Inn, 130 West Huntington Drive, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed the victim made arrangements for a prostitute to visit him for $200. Upon her arrival, she stated the charges would be $500. When the victim refused to pay the additional $300, the suspect called in her bodyguard and both the suspect and the body guard fled with the victim’s $200. The suspect is described as a Hispanic female between 25 and 30-years-old, 5’6”, and 140 pounds. The suspect and bodyguard fled in a white sedan in an unknown direction.

 

At approximately 11:57 p.m., an officer responded to the 600 block of Santa Rosa Road regarding an activation of the Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker now in motion. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. An investigation revealed a 21-year-old female from Glendale, a 22-year-old male from Los Angeles, and a 20-year-old male from Los Angeles had the stolen package, property, the tracking device, and stolen mail in their vehicle. All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

 

January 5

Around 11:16 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a grand theft report that occurred at Ralph’s market, 211 East Foothill Boulevard. While the employee was delivering merchandise, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s handheld scanning device. The investigation is ongoing.

 

At about 6:01 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Palm Drive regarding a burglary. The officer determined unidentified suspect(s) attempted to enter the residence by breaking a glass panel on the front door; however, the suspects were unsuccessful because of a chain lock. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

 

January 6

Shortly after 7:19 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue for having a cracked windshield. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 28-year-old male from Arcadia was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and released in the field. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

 

At about 7:13 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of North First Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect tampered with the driver’s door lock and stole a pair of sunglasses. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

 

January 7

At approximately 3:15 a.m., an officer responded to 101 Noodle Express, 1025 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) shattered the front glass door and ransacked the register before fleeing undetected. The reported loss was an iPad and an unknown amount of cash. The investigation is ongoing.

 

Around 4:23 p.m., an officer responded to the Extended Stay America, 401 East Santa Clara Street, regarding a disturbance report. The officer discovered a reported missing person from the City of La Verne was arguing with a male suspect, who was in possession of methamphetamine and a smoking pipe. The 48-year-old male from Pomona was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. La Verne Police Department was notified that the missing person had been located and was in good health.

 

January 8

At about 11:10 a.m., an officer responded to the 000 block of West Live Oak Avenue regarding a petty theft report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and stole a wallet and the victim’s green card. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

 

Just after 10:13 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s at the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. A loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect conceal numerous items in an empty shopping bag before exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 35-year-old female from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

 

January 9

Around 11:06 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Holly Avenue for having a broken tail light. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 32-year-old male from Colton was driving with an expired license. He was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was left legally parked.

 

At approximately 10:26 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Duarte Road regarding a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred between a husband and wife resulting in the husband punching his wife multiple times in the head and face. The 46-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
