Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report
For the period of Sunday, October 25th, through Saturday, October 31st, the Police Department responded to 1,023 calls for service of which 111 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
October 25
Just before 1 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Genoa Street regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed a mutual battery occurred between two sisters-in-law. Due to conflicting statements, the issue was resolved when the visiting sister-in-law left the residence. Neither subject was arrested.
At approximately 8 p.m., an officer responded to a parking lot in the 000 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. The officer determined an unknown suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and stole the victim’s radio sometime between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. earlier in the day. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
October 26
At about 10:24 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a theft report that occurred at Rite Aid, 39 West Las Tunas Drive. Surveillance footage revealed three black females concealed numerous cosmetic products before exiting the store, failing to make payment. Total loss valued at $873. The investigation is ongoing.
At approximately 4:56 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Don Diablo Drive regarding a burglary. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered the home by breaking a rear window, stole the victim’s laptop, and fled undetected. No witnesses were located.
October 27
Around 7:43 a.m., an officer responded to the 1100 block of Singingwood Drive regarding a stolen vehicle report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect stole the victim’s unlocked vehicle sometime during the previous night. The unoccupied vehicle was later recovered by Baldwin Park Police Department. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Just after 7:09 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of South Baldwin Avenue and Gate 10 of the Santa Anita Race Track for driving without headlights turned on. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 21-year-old male from Arcadia had never been issued a license. He was cited and released in the field. His vehicle was left legally parked.
October 28
Shortly after 6:16 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Foss Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim discovered a secured paint sprayer had been stolen from the bed of his truck sometime during the previous night. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Just before 12:03 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of North Second Avenue regarding a vandalism report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect broke the front windshield of the victim’s vehicle. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
October 29
At approximately 12:53 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Arcadia Avenue and Baldwin Avenue for not having a front license plate. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 24-year-old male from Glendora was driving with a suspended license and had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. During a consensual search of the vehicle, the officer located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Around 8:14 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a subject who was drunk in public. The officer located the subject and determined he was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The 23-year-old male from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
October 30
At about 1 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the 000 block of East Duarte Road for having expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 20-year-old male from Hacienda Heights was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was left legally parked.
Around 5:28 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1200 block of South Fourth Avenue regarding a fraud report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect used the victim’s debit card information to withdraw $2,000 from her account. The victim was in possession of her card at the time of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
October 31
Just after 1:33 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Arrow Highway and Avenida Barbosa in the City of Irwindale for failing to stop at a red light. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 18-year-old male from Duarte was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and marijuana. The officer also located a small bag of marijuana inside the suspect’s pocket. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 7:02 p.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding a hit and run collision. An investigation revealed Party-1 backed out of a parking stall and collided with Party-2. The driver of Party-1, a Hispanic male, exited his vehicle, assessed the damage, and fled the scene without leaving his information. The investigation is ongoing.
