Creative Planet School of the Arts Needs $50,000 in 10 Days

On Oct. 30th, Creative Planet School of the Arts will be closing its doors due to lack of funding and not enough exposure. Hundreds of people will be affected. Most of these are kids between the ages of 4 to 15. They are the artists, performers, musicians and Creative/Visionary Leaders of tomorrow.

Do not let their ages fool you, because it is rare that you will meet a more amazing, hard-working family of students, teachers, staff and parents.

Creative Planet Creative Planet School of the Arts is hidden inside of a small church that they rent from. They are located in the city of Baldwin Park where a vast majority of their residents are low-income minority families. Creative Planet’s mission is simple; bring high-quality academics and art classes into the lives of any child that has the desire to create. One would never guess that this phenomenal school was left undiscovered in the little corner of the church, hidden even from its own neighbors who have lived there for years! The students are taught various forms of dance including ballet, modern jazz, hip-hop, yoga, fine arts, voice, Spanish, creative writing, and the list goes on. The teachers, Mr. Billy Rugh and Michelle Benton, have been committed to this mission for over 15 years. You can only imagine how many lives they have helped shape.

Please join us on Friday, Oct. 23rd from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Creative Planet School of the Arts, 4428 N. Stewart Avenue, Baldwin Park, California. The Kids of Creative Planet have decided to stand together and fight to Save their school. After all, their mantra is as follows: “The minds to build, the hands to create, and the voices to be heard…”

These kids have been working hard for years, and are now ready to be heard by the world as they join together in what could possibly be their last performance together.

The parents of Creative Planet, students, and alumni have created this event in an effort to raise the necessary funds to keep the school open for the rest of the year. There will be guest speakers, performers, food, and vendors! The event will also feature spectacular performances by the Students of Creative Planet. Get ready to be surprised when you see what these kids are capable of!

If this $50,000 miracle happens in 10 days, these kids will get to graduate and walk across the stage that they have dreamt about all their lives! These children will have the same opportunity to be trained by professionals in the industry who know how hard it is to compete for a spot against other talented students of their caliber to enter into elite high schools such as Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCSA) and other Well-Known Performing Arts schools.

This is an emergency. In 10 days, these kids will lose their school. To them, they will be losing their homes as well. Please help them to see the true power of the good that people can create if we all just work together.
