Arcadia Police Blotters
For the period of Sunday, September 20th, through Saturday, September 26th, the Police Department responded to 1,093 calls for service of which 146 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

September 20

Just before 1:59 a.m., an officer contacted a subject in the street near the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Arcadia Avenue. While conversing with the subject, the officer noticed the woman was intoxicated and unable to care for herself. The 29-year-old female from Downey was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 7:06 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Clark Avenue and Peck Road for having a broken tail light. A records check revealed the driver, a 37-year-old male from El Monte, did not have the required ignition interlock device installed on the vehicle. He was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

September 21

At about 10:36 a.m., an officer responded to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of West Duarte Road regarding a mail theft report. An officer discovered sometime between Saturday and today’s date, an unknown suspect pried open the complex mail boxes and stole an unknown amount of mail. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 10:37 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department parking lot regarding a vehicle burglary that had occurred at 24 Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and stole his wallet and cellphone. A short time later, the victim noticed fraudulent charges on his credit card. The investigation is ongoing.

September 22

Around 2:47 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a bicyclist near the 200 block of West Duarte Road for failing to have reflectors. Upon contacting the cyclist, the officer detected signs of drug use. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was under the influence of a controlled substance. During a search of the 36-year-old male from West Covina, the officer located stolen mail, credit cards, and burglary tools. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just after 11:17 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of California Street regarding a domestic disturbance. An investigation revealed the victim and her ex-boyfriend were engaged in an argument when he stole her property and pushed her. The 28-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The victim declined medical attention.

September 23

Shortly after 3:08 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Live Oak Avenue and Second Avenue for reckless driving. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 42-year-old male from El Monte was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

At about 9:12 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Monte Verde Drive regarding a burglary report. A witness reported seeing an unknown male subject enter the rear yard of the residence. The officer determined the suspect smashed the rear sliding glass door, stole the victim’s glasses, and fled undetected. The investigation is ongoing.

September 24

At approximately 1:08 a.m., an officer was contacted by an Arcadia Methodist Security Officer regarding a vandalism report that had occurred in the parking lot of Arcadia Methodist Hospital, 300 West Huntington Drive. Security footage revealed a male suspect broke the rear window of a hospital-owned van. The investigation is ongoing.
The suspect is described as a male with shoulder-length messy hair, beard, wearing a long sleeve shirt with thick brown and white stripes.

Around 11:42 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1700 block of South Mayflower Avenue regarding a battery that had just occurred. An investigation revealed the suspect, a 47-year-old female from Arcadia, pushed and struck her 15-year-old son during an altercation. She then attempted to prevent her son from calling the police. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The juvenile victim was released to his father.

September 25

At about 4:13 p.m., an officer responded to Helen’s Cycles, 142 East Huntington Drive, regarding a burglary report. The officer determined an unknown suspect smashed the front door, stole a bicycle, and fled undetected. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Just after 1:42 p.m., an officer responded to Motel 6, 225 West Colorado Place, regarding a petty theft report. An investigation revealed the unidentified suspect stole the victim’s wallet from the employee lounge while using the employee restroom. The investigation is ongoing.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 35-years-old, 5’6” to 5’8”, 200 pounds, with black spikey hair.

September 26

Just after 1:57 a.m., an officer contacted the occupant of a vehicle in the parking lot of Eisenhower Park, 601 North First Avenue, for being in the park after hours. Upon contacting the occupant, the officer noticed a smoking pipe in plain view. The 57-year-old male from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 10 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Renoak Way regarding a grand theft report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect stole the victim’s ceramic tea pots from her unlocked vehicle and fled undetected. The investigation is ongoing.
