Mother of 3-Year-Old Arrested for Child Abduction in Arcadia

On Saturday, Aug 15, around 8:37 p.m., Arcadia Police responded to the call of a missing three-year-old at Westfield Santa Anita Mall located at 400 S. Baldwin Avenue. Officers contacted the reporting party, the great-aunt, who stated that the mother only has visitation rights. The child was last seen in the company of the mother at a bus stop in the mall parking lot.

A broadcast of the description to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was conducted. On Aug 16, 2015, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff located the child and mother at Union Station in Los Angeles. The child was in good condition and unharmed. Suspect Melissa Barrios was arrested for kidnapping and is currently being booked at the Arcadia Police Department jail with a bail amount set at $150,000.
