Teenager Dies at Hermit Falls

Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. and LA County Fire personnel responded to reports of an unresponsive male at Hermit Falls after a 911 call about 8:46 a.m. Wednesday, April 8th. Officials said one man was killed and two people suffered minor injuries at the falls, possibly from diving into the water from the cliff.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:04 a.m. One person was pronounced dead at the scene while two people with hypothermia were flown by helicopter to Huntington Memorial Hospital.

The detectives on scene learned a male adult, age 18, jumped 50 feet from the top of the fall into the pond below. Two teens, who were with the adult, recognized that the adult was non-responsive so they jumped in the pond to rescue him.
