Monrovia to Honor Bob Bartlett

The city of Monrovia is holding a special celebration to honor former Mayor, Bob Bartlett this Friday at 10 a.m. Bartlett was first elected to the City Council in 1974 and became Mayor in 1976. He served until 2001.
In addition to being the city’s first African-American mayor, he has long been known as a true humanitarian. Raised here in Monrovia, Bartlett even played football for the Wildcats.
The event celebrating his contributions to the community will he held on Royal Oaks, between Shamrock and California. Royal Oaks will be closed in that section from 8 AM until the festivities are concluded.
