Cal Phil at their Best this Past Weekend

Final show of season slated for Aug 24 & 25

The San Gabriel Mountains came alive with the glorious sounds of music last weekend when Cal Phil presented Rodgers, Hammerstein and Gershwin Saturday evening during Festival on the Green at Santa Anita Race Track.
Joining the world-class orchestra during this highly-anticipated concert were “back by popular demand” special guests, Broadway sensations Kim Huber and James Barbour as well as piano virtuoso Bryan Pezzone
One guest, Bernie Caughey told Beacon Media it was the best concert of the season.
The evening began with Gershwin’s American In Paris, followed by his Jazz Age masterpiece Rhapsody In Blue and continued with some of the most popular moments from such Rodgers and Hammerstein smash shows as Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, South Pacific and Carousel.
“The concert was a huge success and we were thrilled to welcome back special guests Kim Huber and James Barbour as well as the mesmerizing Bryan Pezzone on piano,” said Maestro Victor Vener who is also responsible for creating the orchestra’s popular programming. “We look forward to delivering an equally entertaining season finale with Les Miz and Bernstein on August 24 and 25.”
For the spectacular season finale, Cal Phil is joined by singers Randal Keith and Melissa Lyons, stars of Les Misérables on Broadway and the National Tour, and the Cal Phil Chorale. The enthralling season closer features powerful performances from selections of Les Miz and Candide as well as On The Town and Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.
