“March 3, 1913 holds great significance in the history of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for it was on that day when our 22 Founders showed the world that the women of Delta were committed to public service and social consciousness. It was also on that date when they – the ONLY African-American women’s organization in attendance – participated in the Women’s Suffrage March of 1913. This act of social advocacy, the FIRST act of this organization, is what truly set us apart from ALL others” Said Cynthia Bultler- McIntyre National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Thousands of women from all over the world came to join in the marched down Pennsylvania Avenue Sunday, March 3, 2013 to retrace the steps of our founders. Yvonne Brown and Gwendolyn McMullins were among the crowd carrying the California sign. While Keia Fulgham and Valeria Wardlaw, were Marshalls in the march. All are member of Pasadena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
