Duarte Community Day is Oct. 13

On Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Duarte will hold its bi-annual Community Clean-up Day, and Burrtec, the City’s licensed trash hauler will be at the ready.
Burrtec will provide two convenient, drop off locations in the City where residents can dispose of large refuse items at no charge, the Duarte City Hall parking lot, 1600 Huntington Dr. and the former Buena Vista Pavilion Ciity of Hope property at 2144 Buena Vista St. Los Angeles County will also conduct a Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Round-up only at the 2144 Buena St. address. Acceptable household hazardous waste includes brake fluid, paint, paint thinner, cleaners with acid or lye, pool chemicals, used antifreeze, pesticides, and batteries. Items should be in their original containers and transported in a box. E-waste that will be accepted for disposal includes household and car batteries, CRTs, old TVs, computers, keyboards, cell phones, printers, and other electronics. It’s also a good time and safe way to dispose of unwanted or expired prescriptions, mercury thermometers or thermostats, and used needles or Sharps in a Sharps container or sturdy box labled Sharps. Not acceptable are: explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, tires, trash, business waste, controlled substances, and appliances such a refrigerators and stoves.
