5th Annual Armenian Identity Festival Sunday

Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard and City Council member Gene Masuda are expected to be on hand as keynote speakers for the 5th Annual Armenian Identity Festival. The Festival is planned from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, at Victory Park, 2575 Paloma Street. Admission is free.
The event is co-sponsor by the Armenian Community Coalition of Pasadena and Armenian Identity Harvest.
“This year, we will be celebrating something historic,” Event Chairman Chris Chahinian said. “This is the 500th anniversary of Armenian books, first printed in Venice in 1512 and we will be having a special showcase of some of the oldest printed books.”
The festival will celebrate the culture and heritage of Pasadena’s Armenian residents, who first came to reside in Pasadena in the 1880s.
“We will have many traditional dancers performing. One of the most important parts of Armenian culture is music. Armenians love music and have been composing for centuries. We like to celebrate with music and sharing our rich culture and heritage with our community,” he said.
