Horse Town Brew n’ Que Festival kicks off its 10th year anniversary with music legends Lakeside, barbeque guru Saucy Lukes, activities, entertainment and special salute to the ‘70s at California’s largest barbeque competition on May 29 and 30 in Norco.
“This event is an important component of the barbeque community,” notes community organizer Debbie Yopp. “It provides an arena for the top national and international barbeque competitors, award winning live entertainment and special activities that provide meaningful skills for youth.”
The festival is a family-friendly event offering craft beer sampling, barbeque prepared on site, a classic car show, a rock-climbing wall, a petting zoo, and arts and crafts. Yopp says there are several food related activities such as Kids Que, a youth barbecue competition, and a kids’ cooking class.
“We want people from all communities to experience the joy of barbeque,” she adds.
Brew n’ Que is California’s largest professional barbeque contest. The festival has attracted international barbeque competitors from Australia and Mexico as well as celebrity chef pitmasters who are seen on television shows featured on Netflix, The Food Network and Barbecue Pitmasters. The event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS), the world’s largest organization dedicated to barbeque. In addition to the adult pro series, there is a backyard barbeque competition for amateur competitors.
The festival’s soundtrack is a backdrop of live entertainment featuring pop, R&B, country and blues music lead by Lakeside, whose platinum recorded hits include “Fantastic Voyage,” “It’s All the Way Live” and “Your Love is On the One.” The Bay area’s Caravan of All Stars will bring finger-popping jams to the stage and more acts will be added to the lineup.
“We are giving a one-two punch with great music, amazing food and beer and family friendly activities,” says Yopp. “The music will keep the arena jumping! Your general admission ticket offers you a full show of live music featuring country, rock, R&B and blues, and access to the BBQ Village, the Marketplace and free activities for youth and adults,” says Yopp.
