The city of Monrovia is now accepting applications for the Community Development Block Grant Residential Rehabilitation Program.
A limited number of grants as high as $25,000 are available for low- to moderate-income homeowners, according to the city. Residences within the incorporated boundaries of Monrovia must be single-family, owner-occupied and detached.
The application period ends March 5, officials said.
Grants are based on:
- Level 1 — essential repairs that address immediate safety needs such as roof replacement, heating, plumbing and accessibility for people with disabilities;
- Level 2 — necessary repairs that prevent deterioration, some examples include roof repairs, structural repairs and weatherization improvements.
- Level 3 — recommended repairs that improve long-term quality such as painting, flooring and minor repairs.
Program guidelines are detailed on the city’s CDBG page. Officials encouraged prospective applicants “to review the program guidelines carefully, as they outline eligibility requirements, covered improvements, documentation needed for review, and the full application process,” according to the city’s program announcement. “All submissions will be evaluated for income qualification, property eligibility, and repair prioritization.”
Grant seekers can complete the eligibility intake form available online and email it to map@monroviaca.gov.
For questions about the program, contact Erik Carroll at map@monroviaca.gov or call 626-932-5563, officials said.
