A baby reported missing in West Covina and allegedly kidnapped by his aunt was found safe, authorities said Saturday.

Police responded around 5:50 p.m. Friday to a home in the 1600 block of East Mardina Street regarding a reported kidnapping and learned 18-month-old Isaiah Sunel Nava was abducted from the residence by his estranged aunt Amber Alexis Destiny Zarate, according to the West Covina Police Department.

Investigators obtained surveillance video showing Zarate, 26, in the area at the time of the abduction indicating she took the child from the residence, police said.

Zarate is on parole, a known drug user, has violent tendencies and has outstanding warrants for her arrest, according to WCPD Sgt. Steve Spagon. Zarate is homeless and frequents the Los Angeles area. She was last seen wearing a black top, white pants and carrying a black backpack.

A physical description of Zarate was not available.

Her whereabouts remain unknown, but the child was safely located, police said Saturday.

Authorities urged anyone with information about the alleged kidnapping to call the West Covina Police Department, 626-939-8500, or a 24-hour anonymous tip line, 626-939-8688.
